Hello 2013! Goodbye 2012!

While I realize it is now January 4th, and everyone else has posted their goodbye's to 2012 by now, I wanted to wait until after my latest dr.'s appointment before I fill you in on how I have been doing lately.  It's pretty crappy, the supposed Infectious Disease doctors I have seen are "Specialists." In my opinion that term must be used loosely in the medical world b/c it was another strikeout with this 2nd opinion.  Here's my rationale as to why both my PRIMARY doctor and myself believe I need more antibiotics:

April 2012: The Lyme's was found and 5 strands were present in the blood work.  I did 4 weeks of doxycycline.

October 2012: More blood work was done b/c I wasn't feeling "better" and 3 of the 5 strands were still present in the blood work. So I was put on amoxicillin for another 4 weeks.

November 2012: Blood work was ordered again to see how the amoxi did....guess what!?!?!  2 of the remaining 3 strands were present still.  My primary decided at that time it was time to see a specialist for more antibiotics...intravenously.

Ovb. the antibiotics are working, just slowly and perhaps I need to be on them a little bit longer....I feel like I am SOOOOO close but just not there yet.  It is very frustrating and I wanted to scream when I left the dr.'s office yesterday! Not only b/c of the fact that she offered no solution to my suffering but also b/c all the info she had given to me could have been done over the phone AND she was also over 30 minutes freakin' late to my appt!!!!! (See annoyed pic below that was posted to instagram while I was waiting!)

See! I was really annoyed, but my lipstick was pretty!

Her advice was to go back to the neurologist and GI doc since I also have some GI issues as well and start poking around again...YAY...I am just exhausted...

With that said, I am welcoming 2013 and making it my year.  Remember how I REVOLUTIONIZE my life each year?!? Well this year it's a little easier to decide what it will be.  This is my year to rid myself of this horrible disease that has made me more sick than I could have ever imagined.  My year to accomplish changes around my house that I wasn't able to do last year due to this illness. And, lastly, my year to Kick Ass with this blog that I LOVE so much but have been neglecting!

So here's what I got for you:  Stay tuned for posts on my outfits for the day, nails of the week, winter trends I love especially when living in MD when one day can be 60's and the very next be 20's (layers are our favorite thing out here) and many more post.  I have even been dabbling with the thought of doing video makeup tutorials again!

I would also love to start a link up each week and month.  I mentioned previously how I thought my Fashion Friday posts could be a link up and I am currently figuring out how I want to incorporate that.  Stay tuned for more details on those link ups.

I also want to bring back Sunday Spotlight, only it's going to be a little different this time around. More details to come on that was well.

I miss being on here more than you all know!  But I am putting this disease behind me at this point and pressing forward as if it doesn't exist.

Here is to Revolutionizing 2013!

Addicted to Sephora!

Like probably most of you reading this post Sephora is our Candy Store! We are addicted to the sweet stuff and can't get enough.  In the past month I have managed to shop online, in one of their regular stores, & one of their new boutiques inside J.C. Penny's.  *SIDE NOTE: Have any of you been in to these yet?  They are pretty darn cool if you ask me!

I have bought my weight in items from that store (thanks to gift cards!!) and here is the items I am most excited about!

1. Nail files - I am always in search of a good nail file.  These were super cute and I bought one for my Beauty Box Swap mate.  We will see!

2. Benefit Bad Gal Lash (To Go) - One of my favorite mascaras now I've got it to go!

3. Sephora Supreme Cleansing Foam - I have had such issues with my skin lately I am desperate to find something that works. I am willing to try everything until I find the solution!

4. Fresh Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Duo - My yummy & lovely birthday present from them! (p.s. I put it on ever morning and night! I love the way it feels on my lips!)

5. Sephora Smoothing Translucent Setting Powder - Now that I am coaching I need my make up to last a little bit longer than normal. It's my hope this helps it do so!

6. Sephora Prisma Chrome Eyeshadow in Gold Reflection - I absolutely love this color!

7. Sephora Day to Night Eyewear Liner in Sunburst - Again, I LOVE this color! {Picture below to show you how the color shows up!}

8. Sephora Jumbo Liner 12hr Waterproof in Turquoise - How beautiful would Sunburst and Turquoise look together? I can't wait to play with these too!

9. Sephora Nano Lip Liner in Cool Coral - This little number caught my eye in the store and I immediately fell in love!

10. My samples! - I finally was not replaced with perfume when they didn't have one of the items I requested!! Instead they gave me two of the Smashbox primers!  I can't wait to try the both of these!

The sad thing is that I have a lot more awesome items but I think this post will take days to read if I continued. Yes, I have an  addiction and I am not ready for therapy just yet. haha! Better this than other things though!

Has anyone tried any of these items? What did you think of them!  I curious!

Fashion Friday - Hard as Nails

I love Friday's!! Don't you guys!! And, It's another round of Fashion Friday!!

Lately, I have been noticing the huge increase in different nail styles among everyone from Lady Gaga to Lana Del Rey to Nicki.  Gone are the clean cut, square or round shaped nails that graced the tips of some of our most influential fashionistas.

Here (around from left to right) we have Almond shaped nails, Heavily Jeweled nails, Mountain Peak shaped nails, & Duck Bill shaped nails.

I'm not sure how I feel about any of these. I may just stick to my nature square shaped nails that I do myself. haha! What do you guys think of these interesting nail shapes? Let's discuss!  I'll be on twitter discussing #hardasnails!

Beauty Box Swap!

I have a special post of you all today {excuse the non-Motivational Monday Post}!  I participated in the Beauty Box Swap this past month hosted by the lovely Tiffany @ Blabbering Thoughts, Megan @ Absolute Mommy, & Andrea @ Shabby Kitteh,  So what is the Beauty Box Swap you ask?  Well, it is sort of like Birchbox or My Glam Bag but instead we are the ones putting together the goodies and sending them out.  Genius idea!  I decided to join in the fun!

I was lucky enough to receive goodies from the beautiful Heather @ Keeping up with the Giffords!  My first thought when I received the package is "What the heck, I don't remember having any family with the last name Giffords from {Anon. city in MA}?" Here's a little back story:  Remember earlier posts about my vacation when I said I went to Massachusetts?  Well, I was right outside of her city.  Actually, I have lots of family in her city and Fall River.  There is a ton of us loud, vibrant, and beautiful Portuguese people over there! haha!  Small world right?!

Then I remembered about the swap and realized that is what it was! I couldn't wait to rip this baby open!

And my goodness, this is even better than a Birchbox! Probably because it is full of things I love!

Heather gave me all types of goodies that a girl deserves!  2 AWESOME nail polishes, 2 BEAUTIFUL lip glosses, an E.L.F. all over color stick, a leopard print nail file & tweezers, and lastly my favorite type of gum!  How did you know?! You must be psychic!

I am most excited to try the E.L.F. All Over Color Stick and the Yes to Carrots C Me Shine lip gloss.  I have never tried either one of these and thing it might just be awesome!!

Thank you to Heather for the awesome Swap Gift.  Don't forget to check her out because now that I know where she lives I consider her family.  And we all support family right! =)

High Five for Friday

FRIDAY!!! Oh how I have missed you!!  I just want to be home this weekend with nothing to do....I mean NOTHING (but what I want to do)!

I'm linking up with Lauren @From My Grey Desk for another H54F & here is what I'm high fivin' this week!

1.  My $3 manicure!  Sephora had some nail polish on clearance for $3 and I had to get it! and I love it! The picture does not do the color justice.  This is Burst of Mango Cream.

2. This week saw some beautiful days.  God has created such a beautiful world!!

3.  This is my THIRD water cup that I have dropped to the ground and broke. I think it may be a sign to find a different type of beverage holder to carry around. Suggestions anyone?  I particularly like ones with straws.

4.  They added new furniture to my office lobby and this lonesome chair is the only one of it's kind....AND I LOVE IT. I want to take it and put it in my office area!

5.  Do you ever have a day where you just need to "Bun" it?  Yeah, well, yesterday was that day. I have been so tired that I just couldn't get myself up early enough to do my hair....it went right up in a bun!

How was your week?  Leave me a comment, or a link, or both! =)

Tutorial Tuesday - 4th of July Pride

It's another Tutorial Tuesday and tomorrow is the fourth of July for us U.S. citizens! Violent storms have been passing through my area which has prevented me to keep up with the blog and email but I am happy to report that I am able to get this up for you guys....FINALLY!  So for this weeks tutorial I decided to keep with the July 4th theme and give you all a nail tutorial.  This nail tutorial is simple, easy and can be done in under 20 minutes! What you'll need:

1 plastic cup of room temperature water
1 bottle {each} of red, white, and blue nail polish
1 toothpick
Scotch tape
Nail polish remover

1. Paint a base coat (I use China Glaze's base coat) and then paint 2 coats of your white polish.  I used Pure ICE  in SUPER STAR.

2. Next tape your fingers with the Scotch Tape around the edges of your nails....you will be glad you did later!

3. Place one drop of the BLUE {I used Essie ARUBA BLUE} polish in the cup of room temperature water; followed by one drop of WHITE, then one drop of RED {I used Revlon PASSION}, one drop of WHITE again, and lastly one more drop of BLUE.

4. Using a toothpick start to blend the colors starting from the inside out to make a design you want.

5. Dip one finger in the middle of the polish design at a time, using the toothpick to break the excess nail polish away from the design. Repeat for every finger.

6. Remove the tape and top off with your favorite top coat. I use Seche Vite because it is seriously the fastest top coat to dry EVER!  I love it!

7. Clean up the edges of your nails and Voila! You are finished! It is super fast and super easy!

Those of your enjoying celebrating Independence Day be safe and enjoy!

Share with me your celebratory nails! I'd love to see them!  Comment your link below!

Fashion Friday

Keeping up with the themes during the week makes me continue to keep this blog afloat. Even with the small amount of followers I have. =) I love every one of you!  Enter our Friday theme!

Every Friday will be "Fashion Friday."  It will be the day during the week where I dedicate one day solely to fashion, whether it be accessories, clothes or and outfit of the day!  I may even throw in my nail decor for the week or a hair style I am wearing!

You know, it's funny the better you begin to feel about life in general the more interested you become in fashion and accessories...well, for me any way! So for this Fashion Friday I am going to show you what I wore to work.

Now, most offices are casual on Friday's but mine you can never really tell, so I try to remain business like all week long. Plus, I have no other reason to dress up other than work so I might as well enjoy it right?  Because the moment the weekend comes, I am in sweats, t-shirts, and soft and cozy bedroom socks all the way (given that I am not stepping out of the house!)

I don't have many clothes because I have gone on a Clothes Shopping Strike until I tone myself up! So, I need to get creative with my outfits to make them look better then what they are and not make it look like I wear the same freakin' thing every week!

Let's get to it, shall we?  Today I am wearing a scarfed red dress (a couple of years old that I bought from Dressbarn when I was so obsessed with them).  I cinched it above the waist with a large black belt, and added a red, black, and white (w/some sparkles!) scarf. I threw on some black tights that have a ribbed design on them with my favorite knee high black stiletto boots. I accessorized further with my large black flower ring and my gold Mickey Mouse watch (I have a collection of Disney/Mickey watches), and lastly my gold L.O.V.E. earrings!  For my hair I straightened it and bumped it at the crown and gave myself a braided head band.

Of course I am wearing red because today we are recognizing heart disease for women which kills more women then all cancers combined according to GoRedForWomen.org.  Go to their website to learn more about it.  We need to all stick together and fight this horrible disease!

I love figuring out new ways to wear old clothes!  Share with me what you like to do with your old clothes too!

Ruby Pumps!

Hi All!  I wanted to shout out to my BFF TinaMarie1884 who gave me this awesome nail polish for Christmas!

I don't think this picture does the color justice however, it is China Glaze's Ruby Pumps.  I looks like the took the color straight from Dorothy's shoes and bottled it up in to this AHHHMAZING nail polish for me to enjoy.

I don't like the way the nail polish looks all by itself so I try to make up my own little nail art to jazz it up a bit.  Here is the tutorial on how to get this extremely easy look!

What you will need:

  • Any nail polish color of your choice (I chose my Ruby Pumps!)
  • Q-Tips for corrections
  • Black & White Nail Art Colors (or actually any color your want) I used Kiss Nail Art --These have the perfect brushes to make thin lines
  • Top Coat- I used Sally Hansen Acrylic Top Coat
 Happy Painting!
