Sunday Spotlight - Style for the Seasons

Name: Sara
Blog: Style for the Seasons
Blog URL: www.stylefortheseasons.com
Type of Blog: Fashion
What is your favorite reason to be a blogger?
My favorite reason to be a blogger is to connect with people I wouldn't normally run into on a daily basis. Whether it is making new friends through blogging or keeping in touch with friends across the world, I love the way the blogging community helps keep people in touch with one another even when they live so far apart.

What major city is closest to you?
Washington, DC

Does Washington, DC influence or help shape your style, your blog, and/or your personality?
I think that living in the DC Metro Area heavily influences the way I dress. I grew up on the West Coast and had to completely change my wardrobe after moving to DC. The styles out here are so different but I think that my look still has a little bit of West Coast influence.

What can we expect from Style for the Seasons in the next coming months?
I am hoping to have more collaborations, linkups and giveaways in the upcoming months. My blog is still pretty new so I am looking for new and exciting ideas all the time.

Who are your Fashion/Makeup Icons?
While I look to bigger names to inspire my styles, a lot of the people I look to for inspiration are other bloggers. I try to find those who have a similar, classic style and see if they can inspire me in ways those on the runway cannot.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you be and why?
If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in one of two places: San Diego or London. I know that these two cities are so different which is why it makes the decision so hard. The weather and lifestyle in San Diego are ideal but something about me really wants to pick up my life and move to another county. London is a destination I have been dying to visit for years and I think that I would really love living there (although, I may need to buy a few more umbrellas if I do).

What other blogs would you like to see spotlighted on Nicole’s Revolution?
I am a huge fan of Emily from Blue Dog Belle. Her blog always has great posts, her twitter feed is hilarious and she is a really sweet girl when you meet her. I'd recommend Emily!

Fun Question: You have been given $500,000. What would you do with it?
If I were given $500,000, I am not sure where I would start. First, I would probably pay off my boyfriend's school debt. Then, I would plan a trip to Europe and bring my family and a few friends. I thinking that traveling and sharing experiences together is priceless. With the money I had left over, I would probably have to purchase a few new bags. Every girl needs more purses, right?

Sunday Spotlight - So Irrelevant It's Relevant

Sydney
Rachel
Megan

Names: Sydney, Rachel, Megan

Blog: So Irrelevant It's Relevant

Type of Blog: Fashion

What is your favorite reason to be a blogger?

S:  I love being a blogger because I love to inspire others. Before I was a part of this blog, I would constantly check my favorite sites for inspiration. It is awesome to know that I now can do the same for others! I hope people look at the site and see something they think is really cool and that they could recreate.

R: I love expressing myself through fashion and sharing it with others. Dressing up for school is entertaining but posting my looks and getting feedback from other people who are also interested in fashion makes it so much more fun.

M: I love having the ability to freely share my style and advice with other people who are interested and appreciate it. Blogging is like an outlet where I can express my style and hopefully inspire others to embrace theirs at the same time.

What major city is closest to you?
New York

Does New York influence or help shape your style, your blog, and/or your personality?

S:  Yes! We are constantly making trips to the city. I love going in and being inspired by all of the cool people walking around me. Everyone has their unique style, and New York is a great showing of this! We try to be unique on our blog, and have the same carefree attitude that New Yorkers have.

R: I think it does, because my personal style is definitely geared more towards a dark palette, the typical NY look, rather than a breezy LA look. I love fur, boots, and I own a ton of black.

M: Absolutely! NYC is a iconic fashion capital recognized around the world, and when walking the streets, one can witness so many different fashion perspectives. Everyone has her own unique style and is not afraid to show it off.  New York City is somewhere that people are comfortable with dressing however they please and numerous trends are born on those streets. Not to mention every great designer has a store in New York! It has been hugely beneficial to be so close to such an influential city.

What can we expect from So Irrelevant It's Relevant in the next coming months?

S: A lot more daily outfit posts! Also, we will hopefully start showcasing some more DIYs, as well as features of other looks we see and love around us (friends, random people on the street, other bloggers)

R: Expect more daily outfit posts, as usual, but also look for random posts of things that inspire me. I love looking through magazines and sharing looks and ideas that broaden my outlook on fashion.

M: Tons of posts on our daily outfits, our inspirations and even some DIY's! We post regularly, almost every day, and have lots of ideas for how to keep the blog fun and interesting. We are still pretty new to the world of blogging, but we are continue to develop and learn as we go.

Who are your Fashion/Makeup Icons?

S: I love Diane Kruger's style...she always looks so put together and chic! Blake Lively also always looks so flawless and beautiful.

R: Fashion icons include Rachel Zoe, Hanneli Mustaparta, and Emily Schuman. Each is extremely successful in a different section of the fashion world and I admire them greatly!

M: I pull inspiration from a variety of places, but I would go to great lengths to wear an Alexander McQueen piece.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you be and why?

S: Definitely London. They are always so cutting edge "across the pond" and have a distinct style. Also, who doesn't love a good British accent :)

R: Definitely Paris. The city is gorgeous, with the lovely old buildings with beautiful architecture and amazing little parks with seating areas around every corner. Fashion in Paris is more prevalent than in any other city; everyone is dressed to the nines all the time. No one looks sloppy and everyone is fabulous.

M: Hm, there are too many amazing places in the world to only choose one. If I had to though, I guess I would say Switzerland. The location of Switzerland, being surrounded by a number of European countries, is ideal for travel (something I plan to spend most of my life doing).

What other blogs would you like to see spotlighted on Nicole’s Revolution?

S: Empirically Me is one of the first bloggers to follow us, and what a treat this was! She has an awesome sense of style and always looks edgy and unique.

R: steelcityfashion.wordpress.com, empiricallyme.com

M: empiricallyme.com

Fun Question: You have been given $500,000. What would you do with it?

S:  Tough question! I would definitely give some back to my parents for all of the clothing purchases they have financed :) Some would go to charity and the rest would be used for shopping! And of course college funding!

R: Travel the world.

M: Honestly, I'd probably lock it up in the bank. Maybe use a couple thousand for a shopping spree first though :)

My Life in Ruins

Hello everyone. Long time no talk.

I believe you all deserve an explanation. So I will get right to it.

I. am. depressed.

Yes, the big "D" word!  There I said it, I admit it.  I often have a difficulty putting my emotions in to words, and therefore lock the entire world out.  My golden rule is to never, ever, blog when I am sad, upset, or, yep you got it...depressed.

Here's the thing, I have mentioned before that I can no longer have babies and while I am starting to be "O.K." with this tragedy in my life, I still find it difficult to handle the news of other pregnancies.  There are SOOO many people I know are either pregnant or just had babies.

Don't get me wrong, I AM HAPPY for them! Bringing a new life in to this word is amazing! I mean AHHHHMAZING! And to be honest, I am not sure I would want to do it all over again at this point, yes, that is selfish but I have had 8 years to really learn the ropes and I kinda like going to bed and getting up when I want.  Plus, I was able to inherit another kid. I was lucky.  I. am. lucky.

But here's the thing; there is one consideration I think people should take in to when "announcing" their pregnancy:

  • Can you please even act like you are happy? -The worse thing you can to is announce your pregnancy to someone who cannot get pregnant and act pissed off or unhappy. Whether you are trying to be funny or not....it is NEVER funny to someone who can't get pregnant. I. mean. NEVER!
Yes, this happened recently. Yes, I am having a hard time letting it go. Yes, I was extremely upset, vulnerable  had horrible thoughts, and yes, depression kicked in.

I am working on getting over it.  Especially because some other terrible things have also happened our life.  I've learned that you can't go on being upset about things {and people} you can't control.  That said, my personality makes me want to control EVERYTHING!  This is a very new concept for me and I am working on it.

So what is next?  I don't know. I need to get out of this funk I am in.  I have been re-doing my OHHHGLAY kitchen to help me concentrate on happier things but it's a slow progress.  Believe it or not, I haven't really worn a whole lot of makeup and my hair is almost never done...yes, I'm a mess.

I'm not sure if or when I will be back to blogging. I love it, I truly do, but right now I just want to sit in my home and continue to paint my kitchen and be sad....my life I know....

Do know that I am running almost everyday....Follow me on Runkeeper (QueenNicole01)...I am still working on trying to use My Fitness Pal everyday (QueenNicole01).  WeightNot is okay, The program kinda sucks this go around, and I haven't lost weight like I did on the other one, but that said I am down 10+ lbs.  Instagram has been my go to social media app these days (you guessed it QueenNicole01) and I am missing my twitter hearts and will probably back on there soon.

I am getting all your emails and messages and I miss you all too.  Bare with me. If you have ever had to deal with depression before you most certainly understand where I am coming from!

xoxo!

Sunday Spotlight - Undeniably Me

Name: Elizabeth

Blog: Undeniably, me.

Type of Blog: Lifestyle

What is your favorite reason to be a blogger?
I like the creative process; coming up with ideas, writing, photography, and web design.  It keeps my eyes open to all the beautiful things in this world.

What major city is closest to you?
New York City

Does New York City influence or help shape your style, your blog, and/or your personality?
Definitely my style.  New York is such a hub of different styles and tastes, yet it all comes together to create a look that is uniquely here.  The streetstyle is amazing, I'll see someone who looks fantastic, then go home and recreate the outfit.

I think New York has also influenced my personality, everyone is going going going, it keeps me motivated to always push farther and accomplish more, there's never enough time in the day!

What can we expect from Undeniably, me. in the next coming months?
Stories of my daily adventures, tips to living on your own (as I figure them out!), fashion and style posts, and lots of DIY projects!

Who are your Fashion/Makeup Icons?
I love Kate Moss.  She is just always and forever chic.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you be and why?
This is the kind of question someone like me can't answer.  I'd like to travel and live all over the world - some key places are Australia, Italy, and Egypt.  That being said, I feel like New York will always be my home.  If I were to choose any place to live NOW, it would probably be the East Village, or Brooklyn.  Any place where so many creatives come together is where I want to be!

What other blogs would you like to see spotlighted on Nicole’s Revolution?
Oh there's so many!  One I'm currently loving is http://smartgirlstyle.blogspot.com/ - she has such great home decor ideas.

Fun Question: You have been given $500,000. What would you do with it?
Buy a pair of amazing shoes.  Then probably put the rest into some sort of interest accumulating account.  I know, boring.

Thank you to Undeniably, me. for her interview!
